The garden
The first time we will go together: to reach the garden you have to leave the building and walk around the block. Then you will have the key. The garden, surrounded by the ancient walls of the village, has a high hedge and three large trees, two firs and a maple. It is a cool and shadowy garden. In addition to tables, chairs and loungers, also a barbecue is at your disposal.
The turret
It is a kind of covered roof terrace. There are chairs, armchairs, tables and a small sofa, so you can spend a bit of time chatting with friends, reading or even working (even here there is wi-fi).
Here, at the beginning of the Seventies, Bruno Cordati painted directly on the plaster the interior walls and, of course, in the manner of his last period.
Also this room, like the others that you can see, was once open, with wide arches, and right just outside the windows you can still see the arches.
Impressive views: an overview of the valley, in the foreground the new part of the city and in the background the villages of Albiano and Sommocolonia; a view of the Mount Pania, a particular view of houses and roofs of Barga, but especially the Cathedral, framed by a window and with the backdrop of the Apennines.
Bruno Cordati exhibition
Casa Cordati opens in 1994 as a permanent exhibition devoted to the painter Bruno chordates (Barga, 1890-1979). The six rooms of the exhibition are on the first floor and were his atelier in the last ten years of his life..
Since 1997 at Casa Cordati have been organized exhibitions of contemporary artists who are willing to relate, in their work or in their creative thought, to Cordati’s paintings and to the spirit of his historical home or Barga.
The concert hall
Since 2014 it became part of the exhibition circuit.
This is the gala room of the noble Bertacchi family, who owned the building before Bruno Cordati. The palace was called the red house of the Grand Duke: the Grand Duke Leopold slept here, after evenings spent at the nearby Theater.
